They just understand us. Their profound love, care, and loyalty echoes through our bones, our very essence of being. We know that they will be there for us day after day and without hesitation or question. There’s no condition to their presence—you’re at your worst and they don’t waver.
The connection you share is a harmonious melody—full of color and dimension. You may have ups and downs as with any connection, but there is never any doubt about the fact that you are in sync with each other.
I am of course talking about Soul Dogs.
Those canines that are simply unique. Maybe you’ve met, or lived with, lots of dogs. But time after time you find your soul reaching out for one (or several) in particular.
Every dog has their quirks, their unique style of love to give. And we should cherish every soul for they are all deserving of adoration and kindness. As the saying goes, everyone thinks their dog is the best—and no one is incorrect. I truly believe that each unique bond—every human who loves an animal—has it’s individual benefits and characteristics. And not a single one is less than another; if the love is there it is worthwhile.
I wish I could explain the feeling of having a soul dog to someone who doesn’t get it, or has never loved an animal so deeply.
Their weight on my chest somehow calms the storm that rages beneath. My chest feels heavy without them there. The gentle licks on my nose assist me in grounding myself. They remind me, time and time again, that I’m not alone in my despair. They are there to carry me through it, whether they know this or not. The head in my lap tells me that I can get through this.
I am ready to fall off into the deep abyss, and my dog is there barring my path. Not sternly, not out of selfishness or worry about themselves. I am my dog’s whole world and their motive is to protect my peace.
It is this deep connection and love that motivates me to capture the bond between people and their pets. If you have a Soul Dog, I recommend seeking out a pet photographer to deliver some precious memories that will last a lifetime.
